Same program, different drive
A West Virginia medical cannabis card works the same way in Wheeling as it does in Beckley. The $50 fee, the 15 qualifying conditions and the 30-day purchase limits do not change from one county to the next. What does change is the practical side.
The Office of Medical Cannabis sorts its registered physician list by county, and its dispensary list includes the county for each store. So the first thing to know about your town is which county it sits in. Some cities in this guide spill over two counties, which matters when you search the lists.
Several of these cities are on the Ohio River or in one of the panhandles, a short drive from another state. Your card is valid only in West Virginia, and OMC says you may not take medical cannabis across the state line.
Pick your city below. Each page covers the county, where to look for a registered physician, how to find a dispensary on the official list, and the local details worth knowing. If you live in a smaller town, choose the nearest city on the list and the same advice applies.
Before you pick a city
If you have not started yet, the application guide covers every step. For people a long way from any registered office, our page on online evaluations in WV explains the in-person question in the law. And when your card arrives, the dispensary guide covers your first visit.
Rather not drive to an appointment?
Online evaluations are available for West Virginia residents. Before you pay, ask how the physicians handle the in-person part of continuing care that the state law mentions. Code DRWDY85872 takes 5% off.
