Start with the official list
The Office of Medical Cannabis keeps the only list of licensed dispensaries that matters. As of September 30, 2026, OMC counted 70 operational dispensaries in West Virginia, supplied by 9 growers and 9 processors.
There are two ways to look them up:
- The WV Medical Cannabis Facilities dispensary list, a PDF with each dispensary's name, address, county and phone number.
- OMC's searchable dispensary locator.
We do not list or recommend individual stores. The state's list is updated by the state, and ours would go stale.
Call before you drive
OMC's locator says to contact dispensaries directly for days and hours of operation and product availability. Take that seriously if the nearest store is in the next county. A five-minute phone call can save you a wasted afternoon on the road.
Things worth asking on the phone:
- Are you open today, and until when?
- Do you have the form I want in stock (tincture, vape cartridge, flower for vaporizing, patch)?
- Do you take cards, or is it cash only?
- Is there anything I should bring on a first visit?
Plan around the rolling limit
You can buy up to 6 ounces of flower or 60 grams of concentrate in a rolling 30-day period, unless your physician sets a different amount. The amount you buy comes back 30 days after the purchase date. The law also says a dispensary may not sell you more than a 30-day supply until you have used all but a seven-day supply.
If you live far out, write down the date and amount of each purchase. That way you know what is available before you make the trip. The full set of patient rules explains the limits in more detail.
What you can buy
West Virginia dispensaries may sell these forms:
- Pills
- Oils
- Topicals such as gels, creams and ointments
- Tinctures and liquids
- Dermal patches
- Forms for vaporization or nebulization, including dry leaf or flower
They may not sell edibles, and rolling papers, pipes and similar combustion accessories are prohibited. You can make your own edibles at home to aid ingestion; our edibles guide explains the rule.
What it costs at the counter
Dispensaries set their own prices. OMC's 2025 biennial report put the average price of a gram of flower at $7.14 in October 2025. Under the Act as amended in 2019, the dispensary pays a 10% tax on gross receipts, and the law says it may not be added as a separate line on your receipt. Medical cannabis is also exempt from state sales and use tax. Our cost page covers the card fees.
Rather not drive to an appointment?
Online evaluations are available for West Virginia residents. Before you pay, ask how the physicians handle the in-person part of continuing care that the state law mentions. Code DRWDY85872 takes 5% off.

Bring your OMC card. Dispensing requires a valid West Virginia OMC identification card, and we found no OMC information saying cards from other states are accepted. If your card is digital, make sure it opens on your phone before you leave home, since rural cell service can be spotty.
Tell the staff what you are using it for and which forms you are open to. They can explain the products, but your certifying physician is the one to ask about how it fits with your health and your other medicines.
On the way home, keep the product in its original dispensary package and keep your card with you. Do not cross the state line with it. OMC says patients may not travel outside West Virginia with medical cannabis.
